Help βΊ Getting started
Chat and Version buttons
Chat with your team from any page, and know when a new version of OrderPilot is ready.
What it's for
Two of the three buttons at the bottom of the sidebar:
- Chat opens a small chat window over whatever page you are on, so you can message teammates without leaving your work.
- Version tells you when a newer version of OrderPilot is available.
(The third button, Jobs, has its own article.)
Where to find it
Bottom of the sidebar, just above your name: Chat Β· Jobs Β· Version.
The screen at a glance
The Chat button
A red number on the Chat button shows how many unread messages you have.
The chat window
- Left rail β one circle per conversation:
- Alerts (the "OP" circle) β messages from OrderPilot meant just for you. You can't reply to these.
- New β start a chat with someone, start a new group, or find a conversation.
- Your conversations, newest first. A red number means unread messages. A small dot on a person shows if they are working, on a break or not clocked in.
- Search β opens the full Chat page (Team β Chat) where you can search all messages.
- Header β the person or group name. For a person, it shows if they are working (and since when), on a break, or not clocked in. For a group, it lists the members.
- Messages β grouped by day. Your messages are green, on the right. Ticks show if your message was sent (β) or read (ββ).
- Reply box at the bottom, with buttons to attach a file and capture your screen.
The Version button
- Normally it reads Version. Hover over it to see which build you are running.
- When a new version of OrderPilot is released, it turns red and reads Update ready.

How to send a message
- Click Chat.
- Click the person or group in the left rail, or click New and pick someone.
- Type your message and press Enter (or Send).
How to start a group
- Click Chat, then New.
- Click New group.
- Type a group name, for example "Warehouse team", and tick the people. You are added automatically.
- Click Create group.
How to send a screenshot of what you are looking at
- Open the chat window and pick the conversation.
- Click the camera button.
- The first time, your browser asks what to share. Choose this tab and allow it. After that, captures are instant.
- The screen flashes and the picture is added to your message, along with a link to the page you were on (for an order, the order number too).
- Add any text and press Send.
How to update to the new version
- When Version turns red and says Update ready, finish what you are doing (for example, save a form or end a scan session).
- Click Update ready. OrderPilot reloads with the new version.
OrderPilot never reloads by itself, so you never lose work in the middle of a task.
Tips and troubleshooting
- Move the window: drag its header. Resize it: drag its top edge, left edge or top-left corner. OrderPilot remembers the size and position for you.
- When a new direct message arrives, the chat window opens by itself if it is closed.
- The first time you click Chat, your browser may ask to show notifications. Allow it to get a desktop notification for new messages when OrderPilot is in the background.
- If capturing the screen says "Screen share was cancelled", click the camera again and choose Share this tab.
- OrderPilot checks for a new version when you come back to the tab and every few minutes.
